How to Authorise a Tax Agent for Your Personal Tax Affairs

Granting Agent Authorisation for HMRC Personal Tax Assistance in UK

After completing your Self Assessment form through Gondal Accountancy, the next step is to authorise us as your tax agent through your online personal tax account.

1. Go to the HMRC online services website.

The first step is to sign in to your personal tax account using this link.

2. Select the "Business tax account" from the menu bar.

From the top of the page, navigate to the Business tax account section.

3. Choose "Manage account" from the Business Tax Summary page.

At the top of your menu bar, select Manage account from the available options.

4. Scroll down to "Manage tax agents."

In this menu, scroll down to the Manage tax agents section. Under this title, you'll find a hyperlink labeled All other tax agent           services, which you should click on.

5. Click to authorise an agent.

On the next screen, which has an older design, you'll see an About you section. Under this, find the Agent details section and select the link labeled Authorise an agent.

6. Input your agent's Government Gateway code.

At this stage, your agent will have provided you with their agent code. Enter this code in the field provided and press Next.

7. Finally, confirm your agent's details.

In the final step, ensure the correct agent details appear based on the code you provided. If everything looks correct, tick the confirmation box and click Next.

8. Your agent is now authorised to manage your tax affairs with HMRC.

Once you've completed the process, you'll have a brand new tax agent to assist you with managing your Self Assessment.
